Barrow BID has awarded a total of £57,500 in business grants over the past five years, supporting town centre businesses to grow and diversify.
The BID delivers a range of grant schemes aimed at levy-paying businesses, encouraging ongoing investment in the town centre. These grants support improvements to premises, the customer offer, and the overall trading environment, helping create a more vibrant and attractive high street.
Funding has been used for a variety of projects, including shopfront upgrades, internal refurbishments, signage, security improvements and initiatives that enhance the customer experience. Alongside financial support, businesses also receive practical guidance to help deliver changes that might otherwise be delayed or unaffordable.
Supporting businesses at all stages of their journey is central to the BID’s work, whether they are newly established or long standing members of the town centre community. Through tailored support, advice and initiatives, Barrow BID continues to make a difference to local businesses.
The Business Development Grant Scheme is one example of this approach, helping businesses take the next step - from improving shopfronts and investing in sustainability or accessibility, to boosting energy efficiency and developing staff.
Paul Hodgson, BID Manager, said “We have seen the impact our grants have had in the past 5 years, helping businesses grow and giving them that extra help to invest in their future. We’re proud to be able to offer this support and to see the positive difference it continues to make for local traders.”
