Charity & CIC Grant Scheme

Charity & CIC Grant Scheme

During 2021 Barrow BID went through a ballot to be elected for a second five year period from 1st Sept 2021 - 31st August 2026. During the ballot process Barrow BID asked BID members if there was any ways in which they could help. Several chairities and not-for-profit organisations suggested that the previous couple of years had been tough due to the covid pandemic and they would benefit from a reduction in their BID Levy.

The Barrow BID Board discussed the proposal to reduce the Levy and understaood the issues facing charities and not-for-profit organisations. Instead of reducing the BID Levy for all charities, the board came up with a scheme to assist non-trading charities, CICs and not-for-profit organisations by enabling them to apply for 50% of their BID Levy back each year as part of a grant scheme.

The scheme was outlined in the Second Term Business Plan (see right) and means organisations can apply for 50% of their BID Levy each year.

Barrow BID hope that the scheme will enable Barrow BID to work more closely with charitable BID members to raise much needed funding and awareness.
