Supporting Barrow’s Charities, CICs & Not-for-Profit Organisations
Barrow town centre is about much more than shops and businesses. Our charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs), community groups and not-for-profit organisations play a vital role in making Barrow a welcoming, vibrant and inclusive place to live, work and visit.
These organisations provide essential services, create opportunities for local people, support those who need it most and bring communities together. They are an important part of the town centre community and help create the sense of pride, identity and belonging that makes Barrow special.
At Barrow BID, we want to work alongside these organisations and help them make the most of the opportunities available within the town centre.
We offer a range of opportunities designed to help local charities, CICs and not-for-profit organisations raise awareness, engage with the community, promote their work and, where appropriate, raise funds.
Annual Charity Focus
Each year, we will provide an opportunity to showcase your organisation and the important work you do through a dedicated feature shared across Barrow BID's social media channels and website.
This is a chance to tell the people of Barrow about your organisation, the services you provide, the difference you make and how people can get involved or support you.
Content can be submitted through our Business Communications page.
Free Christmas Tree
Eligible organisations can take part in our annual Christmas Tree Scheme and receive a free Christmas tree, helping bring some festive spirit to your premises and the wider town centre.
Free Hanging Basket, Tub or Plants
As part of our annual environmental enhancement schemes, eligible organisations can receive a free hanging basket, tub or plants, helping to improve the appearance of your premises and contribute to a greener, more welcoming town centre.
Free Event Trading Space
We offer eligible organisations one free trading/event space per year at a Barrow BID large-scale event.
This provides an opportunity to meet members of the community, promote your organisation, showcase your work and, where appropriate, raise funds.
Spaces are subject to availability and event requirements.
For more information, contact projects1@barrowbid.co.uk.
Free Team Entry
Charities, CICs and not-for-profit organisations can enter a team into our annual Soapbox Derby free of charge.
It's a fantastic opportunity to bring your team together, have some fun and raise the profile of your organisation while potentially fundraising for your cause.
We also have a limited number of karts available to loan for organisations that don't have the facilities, skills or resources to build their own.
For more information, contact operations@barrowbid.co.uk.
Additional Event Listings & Notifications
We can provide eligible organisations with additional opportunities to promote their activities and events through the Barrow Buzz App.
This can help you reach local residents and visitors and ensure more people know about the important work you are doing in our community.
For more information, contact projects1@barrowbid.co.uk.
A year of fundraising and promotion
Each year, Barrow BID has the opportunity to appoint a Charity of the Year.
Our chosen charity benefits from additional opportunities to raise awareness and generate fundraising throughout the year, working alongside Barrow BID's programme of events and activities.
This provides an opportunity to build a stronger relationship between your organisation, local businesses and the wider Barrow community.
For more information, contact projects1@barrowbid.co.uk.
Cost-Price Equipment Hire
We recognise that putting on events in the town centre can be expensive, particularly for smaller community organisations.
Where equipment is available, we offer cost-price equipment hire for town centre charitable events, helping organisations make the most of their events while keeping costs as low as possible.
Barrow's charities, CICs and not-for-profit organisations make a huge contribution to the life of our town.
Whether you are supporting vulnerable people, providing opportunities for young people, improving the environment, promoting arts and culture, supporting health and wellbeing, raising funds for an important cause or simply bringing people together, your organisation has an important role to play in Barrow's future.
Barrow BID wants to make it easier for these organisations to be visible, connected and involved in what is happening across the town centre.
If you are a charity, CIC or not-for-profit organisation operating within or supporting the Barrow community, we'd love to hear from you and explore how we can work together.
