Local charity prepares for its busiest event of the year

Re:Love by St Mary’s are no stranger to a mammoth task, regularly going all out with seasonal window displays, but this month they may be undertaking their biggest yet! 

Their early Autumn event on Thursday 17th September will see hundreds of coats, jumpers, jeans and more out on the shop floor from 5pm-7:30pm, giving shoppers an exclusive opportunity to shop the first pick of cosy Autumn clothes this year. 

Aiming to stock the shop with over 400 new items in under an hour, Re:Love is aiming for a quick turnaround after their usual day’s trading, before doors reopen at 5pm. This year they’re aiming to raise more than ever, opening for half an hour longer than last year. 2025’s Autumn event made over £500 in just 2 hours, so with even longer to shop this year, manager Tracy is hoping to smash that target. 

Only around 17% of St Mary’s funding comes from the government, so they rely on income from other sources such as their lottery, donations, and of course the money made at the St Mary’s shops - including Re:Love in Barrow.

St Mary’s Hospice provides vital, compassionate care for people with life-limiting illnesses across the Furness and South Lakes area. They support patients and their families through every stage of their journey, offering specialist palliative care, emotional support, and practical guidance both in our hospice and in the community. 

Tracy is no stranger to thinking of new and inventive ways to support the charity via her shop, and since moving to their current location on Dalton Road, the team have been looking at new ways they can raise funds. 

The Autumn event is just one unique way Re:Love strives to be different from your usual charity shop. With over 200 coats, 50 pairs of boots, 100+ Autumn jumpers and 75 pairs of jeans quality checked and priced the week before the event, the team are working hard to ensure the event’s success. 

With plenty of cosy bargains to be found and every penny helping to fund vital hospice care, Re:Love’s Autumn event looks set to be one not to miss.
