April 14, 2026

Business you represent:

Cumbria Sewing and Craft Centre Limited & Cumbria Embroidery and Print

How long have you had a business in the town centre?

I started trading in town centre 33 years ago and then opened my second shop 4 years ago.

Why did you get involved with Barrow BID?

I got involved with the BID, as as a Barrovian I am very passionate about our town and have seen so many changes in the town centre. I wanted to see if I could help make decisions that would improve our Town Centre for the future generations.

What is your favorite BID event or project?

My Favorite BID event was the Soap Box; to see the town so full of people enjoying themselves was amazing. The feedback was fantastic it was what I imagined and much more. I can't wait for our next event!

Tell us something we wouldn't know about you?

My Love of sewing as a teenager took me to Furness College to do a Fashion and Design course, this inturn gave me the confidence with my sister to take over a long standing sewing machine shop which was closing due to retirement. It took us around 5 years to get the business back to a thriving sewing shop again!
