Local talent takes centre stage at the Festival of Transport 2026

CANDOFM was proud to host the live entertainment stage at the Festival of Transport 2026, bringing together an exciting mix of established performers and emerging local talent.

Opening the stage was Alex McCormack, a talented musician who was first spotted by the CANDOFM team while performing at The Meeting Place. We immediately recognised Alex’s potential and invited him to perform at several events organised by CANDOFM and Barrow BID. He has also performed live from the CANDOFM studio.

We are delighted to see that Alex is now a well-established local musician, regularly appearing at events throughout the area. It has been a privilege to watch his confidence, reputation and audience continue to grow.

Jack Dale, a singer and guitarist, also delivered a fantastic performance. We first discovered Jack when he appeared at the Barrow Pride event organised by DropZone Youth Projects. Jack has an impressively broad and eclectic repertoire, moving effortlessly between genres including metal, rock, country and popular classics.

The wonderfully entertaining String Theory brought something completely different to the stage. The three-piece group combines guitar, bass, violin and even a foot-operated tambourine to create a lively and distinctive sound.

Their performances are light-hearted, unpredictable and full of personality. Occasionally things may not go entirely to plan, but that is all part of the fun. They simply carry on, keep the audience smiling and regularly produce flashes of musical brilliance that demonstrate just how talented they are.

CANDOFM never stops searching for the next generation of local performers, so we were especially pleased to offer a place on this year’s stage to Solomon, an incredibly talented young musician aged just 11.

Although Solomon appeared a little nervous at the beginning of his performance, his confidence quickly grew. By the end of his set, he was looping guitar parts, adding drum loops, playing live guitar and singing an impressive version of Sam Fender’s Rein Me In.

It was an ambitious performance delivered to a remarkably high standard, earning warm applause and appreciation from the Festival of Transport crowd.

Supporting local talent is at the heart of CANDOFM. From musicians taking their first steps onto a public stage to established performers entertaining audiences across the area, we are proud to offer opportunities for people to be heard, develop their confidence and showcase their abilities.
