Jonny Williams - Cando FM

How long have you worked/had a business in the Town Centre? The station has been located close the the town centre of Barrow for just over two years now. Originally the radio station was located at Furness College after the station was formed as a community interest company. Our aim in moving was and still is to connect more intensively with our local community Why did you get involved with Barrow BID? Barrow BID's vision for the town centre is aligned closely with both the community radio stations aims and my personal ideals. For the local people, contending with the shortfalls of austerity and aftermath of a worldwide pandemic, we will also need companionship places to meet, to chat, to eat, and to dream about how the future might look. Determined people with vision working collectively can make these ambitions reality. Favorite BID event or project (and why)? I don't have a favourite event. I have a favourite premise. That is the proof that large town centre events in Barrow can be very successful, and that the more local people and companies who get involved the bigger that success can be. Tell us something most people wouldn't know about you? I studied entrepreneurialism at Manchester University. I've created music for Atomic Kitten. I used to sing for a living and I used to play percussion in the local brass band. Additional comments/information Town centres are changing their identity at rapid pace. Barrow BID has a huge part to play in that future.
