Dino Day is coming - here’s 11 ways your business can get involved

April 28, 2026

Dino Day is roaring back into the town centre on Saturday 16th May, with a full day of free family fun! Besides welcoming our prehistoric pals, events like this are all about bringing people into town and giving local businesses the opportunity to put themselves in front of thousands of potential customers.

Organised by the BID team, Dino Day is designed to drive footfall and create a lively atmosphere that encourages visitors to shop, eat, and stay longer. For businesses, this presents a huge opportunity. With more people in the town centre (over 37,000 at Dino Day 2025!), this is a chance to catch their attention and turn extra footfall into customers.

Getting involved doesn’t have to be complicated, a few simple ideas can make a massive difference in making your business part of the event! Here are 11 easy ways your business can join in and make the most of Dino Day.

Take Part in the BID Window Competition

Create a dino themed window display for your chance to be crowned the most creative business in the town centre! Our event window competitions are back for 2026, and we want to see the most original, over the top windows you can think of. With a prize for the best window, this is your chance to stand out and showcase your products to thousands of people in an engaging way.

Create a Special Offer

Who doesn’t love a bargain? Running a special offer during the event is a simple way to give customers a reason to choose your business on the day -  and a great opportunity to introduce them to what you offer.

Run an Activity

Putting on a simple dino-themed activity draws people into your business, and encourages them to stay longer. With research showing that a 1% increase in dwell time leads to a 1.3% increase in sales, something as simple as a colouring sheet for the kids can help boost your takings on the day.

Get Dressed Up

Get into the prehistoric spirit and dress up! Families are more likely to stop and engage with businesses that have gone the extra mile to be part of the day.

Advertise on our Big Screen or Event Programme

Stand out and promote your business as part of the event. With programmes distributed to event visitors and our big screen in the middle of the event, it’s a great way to catch the attention of the crowds and point people in your direction. A simple message can go a long way in turning visitors into customers. If you’d like to discuss promoting your business at the event, contact Jenni at projects2@barrowbid.co.uk for more information.

Be Part of The Stamp Trail

Our event stamp trails are designed to get people moving around the town centre, visiting participating businesses along the way. Each stop offers a simple activity where visitors can collect a stamp on their card, working their way towards a prize at the end.

By taking part you’re giving people a clear reason to step through your door. It’s a great way to boost dwell time, increase visibility, and introduce your business to new customers during the event. To join the stamp trail, email Jenni at projects2@barrowbid.co.uk

Create a Buzz App Exclusive Offer

The Barrow Buzz app puts your business directly into customers’ hands and is free for all levy paying businesses to use. Our new Buzz App Exclusive Offers run for a two week period, giving you a short but powerful burst of promotion, including a dedicated social media post on Barrow BID socials each week. With an average of 1.2 million views every 28 days, it’s a great way to get your offer in front of a wide audience in a focused timeframe.

We’ll also provide in store signage to help drive app downloads, making it easy for customers to unlock your exclusive offer when they visit.

Got an offer in mind? Email projects2@barrowbid.co.uk for more information.

Sponsor an Event Element

Be part of one of Barrow town centre’s biggest events by sponsoring an event element. Sponsorship gives your brand strong visibility and aligns you with a family friendly, fun experience that potential customers will remember and associate with your business.

Packages include extensive advertising, with your business featured across all key event marketing materials (including our billboard!), helping you reach a wide audience before, during, and after the event. Contact manager@barrowbid.co.uk for event sponsorship packages.

Promote the Event on Social Media

The more people who know about the event, the better! By promoting Dino Day on your social channels, you’re giving potential customers a clear reason to head into town. Using your own platforms to talk about the event reaches different audiences, extending the overall reach and increasing the number of people visiting the town centre on the day.

Advertise with a Banner or Feather Flag

Want a high impact way to reach new customers? Our advertising scheme offers low cost options to put your business in front of thousands. With banners and feather flags available, all prices include the design and manufacture of your advertising materials - which you then get to keep after the event.

Placed in high traffic areas within the event, these eye-catching displays are a great way to direct people straight to your business, especially if you’re located slightly further out from the main Dino Day arenas.

Be Part of the Giant Deckchair Competition

Put your business at the heart of the action by getting involved in our photo competition! Visitors will be encouraged to snap a photo on the giant deckchair and share it on social media, tagging their entry for the chance to win a prize.

By donating a prize, your business will be showcased to everyone taking part and help generate extra buzz across the event - giving you great visibility in a fun, memorable way. To take part, email Jenni at projects2@barrowbid.co.uk
