Barrow pub champions cask ale with a week of celebrations

Owners of White Lion in Barrow have taken their love of cask ale to new levels, with a week long celebration starting this September. 

Keen to share their passion for ale, the pub will be offering deals such as Cask Ale of the Day for just £2.50, giving customers the opportunity to try a new beer each day. The week culminates with a mini ale festival, with 9 real ales on offer, plus the chance to try their range with three-beer flights. 

Lovers of cask ale can then put their knowledge to the test as the week comes to an end by taking part in the Real Ale Quiz on Sunday 27th September. Known as ‘Barrow’s Living Room’ since new owners Sam and Adam took over, pub quizzes are a staple at White Lion and this ale twist is sure to prove popular with the punters!

Pub owner Adam Taylor said “We’ve always wanted the White Lion to be a pub that really champions cask ale, rather than simply having a few handpulls on the bar. Cask Ale Week seemed like a great opportunity to make a bit more of a celebration of it and hopefully encourage people who might not normally choose real ale to give it a try.

Across the week we’ll have different offers and events, including a Logan Beck Brewery tap takeover, our mini cask ale festival with nine different ales across the Friday and Saturday, and a real ale themed quiz to finish the week.

We’re really proud of the range and quality of cask ale we serve at the White Lion, and we’re particularly keen to support local and independent breweries wherever we can. Hopefully the week gives both our regular real ale drinkers and people who are just curious about it a reason to come in and try something different.”
