Town centre business launches “Second Life Scheme” to support local organisations

We’ve all got an old piece of tech gathering dust in a drawer, whether it be an old phone past its best or an unwanted tablet. With nearly half a billion tech items and over 100,000 tonnes of waste electricals discarded each year, one local business is looking to make a change and bridge the digital divide in our community.

Tech Lab Repairs have launched their “Second Life Scheme”, inviting you to bring unwanted laptops, phones or tablets to them instead of letting them go to waste.

Their expert team will professionally refurbish your old devices and donate them to a local charity of your choosing. It’s a simple way to reduce electronic waste while making a real difference to those who need it most right here in Barrow.

Supporting 5 local organisations, you can choose to help Drop Zone Youth Projects, Cash for Kids, Barrow Food Bank, Mind in Furness or BarrowFull with your donation. The donated tech will be given to these groups to help them with their day to day activities and support the charities and organisations making a real difference in our community.

The charity will even send you a confirmation email once they receive your device, so you know exactly where your donation landed and the difference it will make. 

With their Second Life Scheme, Tech Lab Repairs is showing that unwanted technology doesn’t have to become waste. By giving an old device a new purpose, Tech Lab is not only helping tackle e-waste, but directly supporting our local community.
