2018 Classic Car & Bike Event a huge hit with town centre shoppers
Following the success of the inaugural Classic & Vintage Car & Bike Event in 2017, the event returned to Barrow Town Centre for a 2nd time on Saturday 21st July 2018.
The event had expanded from just over 60 vehicles in 2017 to over 100 in 2018, filling Barrow Town Centre from High Street to Harrison Street along Dalton Road. We had a wide range of cars, trucks, campers and 4x4 vehicles along the main town centre street, with motor cycles at the top of Portland Walk, Scooters outside Salvanas on Cavendish Street and even a double-decker bus.
Although the weather was overcast with a little drizzle in the air at 9am, the vehicle owners arrived with their pride and joys to showcase them in Barrow's Town Centre streets. The early drizzle soon turned into sunshine and soft tops came off the cars to the delight of the vehicle owners and the general public.

Barrow BID would like to thank the following for their help putting the event on
- Rotary Club of Furness and the Rotary Club of Furness Peninsula for providing volunteer marshals
- M&S for providing cones to close off the bottom of Dalton Rd
- Cumbria County Council for providing us with traffic management
- Barrow Police for assisting with moving the vehicles off Dalton Rd at 3.30pm
- The public of Barrow for coming along and supporting the event.
- Finally... The vehicle owners who came along and spent a day in Barrow with their pride and joys to show to the public and add a touch of class and colour to Barrow Town Centre.
Barrow BID Manager, Colin Garnett, said, “The Car & Bike show is perfect for Barrow Town Centre as it enables us to locate vehicles right up Dalton Road, meaning businesses from High Street to Harrison Street and Barrow Market will feel the positive effects of increased footfall. The vehicles add colour and interest to the town, which is something we would like to do on a permanent basis."
“Barrow BID are committed to putting on high class events in the town centre or working in partnership with event companies and local talent to provide quality entertainment and attract people to the town centre. We need to ensure that businesses get return on investment from the BID and we see more positive events like the Car & Bike show in Barrow town centre.”
