Inaugural Classic Car & Bike Event a hit with the crowdsBarrow BID held its inaugural Vintage & Classic Car & Bike event on Saturday 22nd July. The day was real hit with both the exhibitors and the public, with a total of 33 cars and 30 motorbikes lining Dalton road in the town centre. The sun shone and many people commented that Dalton Road was busier than it has been for such a long time. Barrow BID Manager, Phil Collier, said “This is just one of a number of events that the BID has planned and we have been organising this one for a while now and so it is great to see it come to fruition. It is a long time since I have seen this many people in Dalton Road and the interest that has been shown in the cars and bikes has been fabulous. “Having seen how successful this event has been, I think it is clear that we can consider making this an annual event and, from the many lovely comments received, I feel we can really build on this, both in term of the number of vehicles on display as well as creating a real festival atmosphere.” Some of the comments received from the general public:
“Nice show, relaxed atmosphere, able to view cars properly and talk to some of the owners – well done to the organisers”
“Bringing back lots of memories, fantastic”
“Need more events like this, maybe with some stalls”
“It’s years since I’ve seen Dalton Road this full”And some more from exhibitors:
“I don’t think the day could have gone much better, even the weather was on our side. I must admit to being a little surprised at the amount of genuine interest people have shown”
“I actually prefer this type of show rather than those set in a field. It gives the public exposure to some lovely cars they wouldn’t normally see”.
“This was a great day and the town was very busy, thank you to the BID Team for organising this. I really liked the idea of giving every owner a Barrow BID car window sticker and the convoy at the end was a good idea too”
